Mock driving test Dublin

A mock driving test that feels like the real thing.

Examiner-style mock test on your actual test-centre routes — marked the way the RSA marks, debriefed the way an instructor debriefs. Faults get found here, where they're free, instead of on test day, where they cost you the pass and the wait for a new date.

What's included

Run exactly like the RSA test — on purpose

The value of a mock test is realism. Here's what a two-hour session looks like.

01

Real test routes

We drive the routes actually used from your test centre — the same roundabouts, junctions and speed-limit changes you'll meet on the day. No surprises left.

02

Examiner conditions

Test-style instructions only, no coaching mid-drive, manoeuvres on request — including the silence. Learning to drive well while nobody chats to you is a skill in itself.

03

RSA-style marking

Your drive is marked in the RSA's fault categories — grade 1, 2 and 3 faults across position, observation, progress, and the rest — so the result reads like a real test report. See how faults are graded.

04

The debrief & fix plan

Then we switch from examiner back to instructor: what would have passed, what wouldn't, and targeted correction of your top faults while they're fresh — in the same session.

Why it works

Rehearsal beats hope.

Most test fails aren't about driving ability — they're accumulated grade-2 faults and nerves meeting an unfamiliar format. A realistic rehearsal fixes both: the faults get named and corrected, and the format stops being scary because you've already done it. And the stakes are real: a failed test typically costs €300–€600 and months of waiting. Read our full test-day guide.

Mock driving tests — FAQ

Which Dublin test centres do you cover?

We run mock tests on the routes from Tallaght, Finglas and Mulhuddart, plus Navan for Meath learners — matched to where your real test is booked. Tony, our pre-test specialist, focuses on the Tallaght centre and its routes.

How is the mock test marked?

In the RSA's own fault framework — grade 1 (minor), grade 2 and grade 3 (dangerous) faults recorded per category, with the same thresholds that decide a real pass or fail. You get the completed sheet and a plain-English walkthrough of it.

Do I use my own car or yours?

Either. Your own car makes the rehearsal maximally realistic if you'll test in it; our dual-controlled cars are available too, and Tony can run mock tests in your own automatic. For test day itself we also offer a fully insured test car for €170.

When should I book the mock test?

Ideally two to three weeks before your test date — close enough that the routes are fresh, with enough time left to fix whatever the mock surfaces. If your test is sooner, book now; one realistic rehearsal beats none.

What happens if I "fail" the mock?

Then it did its job. Every fault found in the mock is one that can't ambush you on test day. The debrief converts the marking sheet into a short, concrete fix list — most learners need one or two targeted lessons after it.

Is this the same as a pre-test lesson?

A mock test is the heart of our pre-test package — the difference is the format. A pre-test lesson coaches as you go; the mock runs uninterrupted under examiner conditions first, then coaches. If your test is close, the mock format tells you more. See our pre-test lessons page for the full range.
