1. The RSA book
Every rule is checked in the RSA's Rules of the Road (April 2026 edition). Where a guide quotes the book, it gives the printed page, so you can check it yourself.
How we work
Kris Kawa is responsible for every guide and article on this site and approves each page before it goes up. This page explains how every rule in them is checked first.
Read the guidesBefore anything goes up
This covers every rule, road sign, speed limit, penalty and licence fact on the site.
Every rule is checked in the RSA's Rules of the Road (April 2026 edition). Where a guide quotes the book, it gives the printed page, so you can check it yourself.
The book can fall behind the law. So we also check the law: the Irish Statute Book (irishstatutebook.ie) and the Law Reform Commission's Revised Acts (revisedacts.lawreform.ie). Where the two differ, we follow the law in force.
We look at rsa.ie and ndls.ie. If none of them confirms a point, we leave it out.
A research page names the study behind a figure. A figure we cannot trace to a source comes out.
A note from Kris
I write the guides on this site and I do my best to get every detail right. I check everything twice before it goes up. Even so, rules change, and an oversight or an out-of-date detail can slip through.
If you spot an error, or something that is no longer current, please let me know at info@smartdrivingacademy.ie or on WhatsApp. I will check it against the book and the law and correct the page. Thank you for helping keep these guides accurate.
